The RESX team worked closely with the creative team and AGL to conceptualise, design and produce the 175 year anniversary film for AGL. The extensive use of 3D animation, painted backdrops, period costumes and green screen technique ensured the film was faithful to each era. The project was highly successful and won industry awards for brand attribution.
The AGL film required the recreation of period scenes from the gaslight era to the present day. During the production RESX used period costume specialists, historians and designers to recreate historical scenes since the company’s inception. The 6 day shoot, among other things required a faithful recreation of the Royal Arcade Sydney (now the site of the Hilton Hotel on Pitt street) using a combination of live action elements and 3D virtual location. Using archival architectural floor plans sourced from the Mitchell Library, the RESX team re-created the set in CG to exacting detail and combined this with the live action performance to deliver the film. Graphic textural overlays were used to create a period look and tone.
